Iskandar Malaysia Flagship A
Strategic areas of development in Flagship A consisting of:-
Johor Bahru City-Better known as JB, Johor Bahru is a quarter size of neighboring Singapore and has about a million people living in its municipality. There are about another two million people staying in its outskirts and together with its hinterland, makes it one of the fastest growing cities of Malaysia.
JB has been traditionally a transit town for visitors going over to Singapore as well as travellers coming to Malaysia from Singapore. As a result, life in JB is best described as easy going. Food is plentiful and in many varieties and has been a draw for Singaporeans coming in after a hard day's work. By all accounts, living here in JB is very much cheaper which has been the reason the hundred thousand workers who crossed daily over to Singapore to work to live here.
That might be the case in the past, but with the setting up and development of Iskandar Malaysia, which has an area three times that of Singapore Island, JB might see a change of wind and might pick up the pace to move ahead of other cities due from the vast potential of further development of the Iskandar Region. Hopfully, things do not move that fast or else JB would loose its charm as one of the best places to live in for the seniours in Malaysia.
Danga Bay-A former backwater swamland transformed into an idylic twenty first century commercial hub with environmentally friendly facilities. Earmarked as the next business address of JB city, Danga Bay is designed with five distinct precints, each catered specifically to the financial, commercial, residential, educational and touristic aspects of modern township. Working here will be leisurely infused with sea breezes as much of it is faced to the sea shore.

An Iskandar Iconic Wellness Project will be built at Danga Bay. Being a first of its kind project between the Malaysian and Singapore government, the joint partners are Khazanah Holdings and Temasek Holdings with each holding 50%. Based on the wellness theme, the Iconic Project will emcompass both modern and traditional medicine as a sideline to "live, work and play" in the heart of Iskandar Project.
CIQ Complex-Redesigned and rebuilt for the twenty first century, the Custom Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at Bukit Cagar, JB city centre is the largest custom and immigration centre in Malaysia.
It is anticipated that there will be twenty million visitors to Iskandar Malaysia by 2015 and the CIQ is built to cater for such an influx. It is also anticipated that there will be further development of a rapid transit hub at the doorsteps of the CIQ such that they can be a connection point between the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (scheduled to be operational by 2018) and Iskandar Malaysia. Another Light Rapid Transit hub (serving fast and light mass transport) is also scheduled to be built at Kempas Interchange to serve as the transport hub for Southern Johor and Iskandar Malaysia.
